The context Senior delegates from the Saudi Arabian government wanted a practical, executive level course on the intersection of service design and artificial intelligence. The brief was to move beyond hype and explore what it means to design services with AI as a partner — responsibly, ethically, and with a clear focus on improving outcomes for the people and organisations affected. What we did Gerry Scullion and Steffi Kiefer delivered a five day course in London for a senior government delegation. The programme was designed to introduce the foundations of service design through the lens of AI, with each day building from principles to practical application. The course covered: 1. Service design fundamentals for AI era services. How to frame problems, understand users, and design end to end experiences before technology becomes the answer. 2. Designing alongside AI.
