Humana Design conducted a full human-centred design evaluation review for the NSW Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in September 2017, working across the ODPP to understand operational flow and identify opportunities to streamline the delivery of justice across New South Wales.
The context The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) in New South Wales is responsible for the prosecution of serious criminal offences on behalf of the community. In 2017, New South Wales courts were facing a significant backlog, and the ODPP — led by Director Lloyd Babb — recognised that improving internal operational flow could make a meaningful contribution to the speed and quality of justice delivery. In September 2017, the ODPP engaged Humana Design to conduct a full human centred design evaluation review of the office's operations, working across the organisation to understand how cases moved through the system and where friction, delay or duplication were holding things back. What we did The review spanned the ODPP's end to end operating model, from the moment a matter was referred through to the court outcomes and beyond.
