An in-person service design training programme for Belfast City Council executives, covering journey mapping, blueprinting, stakeholder mapping, portfolio management and a live design research study.
The context Belfast City Council wanted to build service design capability among its senior leaders — not as a theoretical exercise, but as a practical way to think differently about how the council designs, manages and improves services for the people of Belfast. The brief was for an in person, executive level training course that would give leaders a working understanding of core service design methods, while also connecting the thinking directly to real services the council runs. The course introduced service blueprinting as a way to connect the visible experience with the backstage processes, systems and people that make services happen. 3. Stakeholder mapping. Executives worked through how to identify and engage the people and teams who shape, deliver or influence a service. 4. Portfolio management. We
