Facilitating Conversations: qualitative research training for Aerogen, Hollister and Luminate

A one-day on-site training programme in Galway that strengthened qualitative research facilitation skills for medical device teams, with a focus on ethical and trauma-informed practice.

The context Aerogen, in partnership with Hollister and Luminate, wanted to strengthen how their teams conduct qualitative research. In the medical device sector, research conversations often involve vulnerable people, complex clinical contexts and sensitive personal experiences. The challenge was to build practical research skills that respected participants, met business and regulatory needs, and produced reliable insight. What we did We delivered a one day training programme called Facilitating Conversations on site in Galway. The programme brought together approximately 26 people from Aerogen, Hollister and Luminate. The training covered: 1. Effective qualitative research facilitation. Practical techniques for running interviews, groups and research conversations that produce useful, honest insight. 2. Ethical research practices. Informed consent, confidentiality, managing sensitive disclosures and maintaining clear boundaries. 3. Trauma informed approaches.
